A bottle of wine from Samurai Princess

Miss Samurai Princess surprised me with a mysterious wrapped bottle the other day. It was her current favorite beverage from "Bonny Doon Vineyard (a bottle of Pacific Rim Dry Riesling)!

If you noticed the inside labels on the bottle are pictures of yummy sushi! Hmmm, can't wait to open this with some fresh sashimi!! Thanks so much Beckster for your wonderful birthday gift!

2004 Pacific Rim Dry Riesling
The unbearable lightness of riesling! Riesling is the true chameleon grape with moods and aspects as changeable as the weather or the character of the archetypal eternal feminine. We have never pretended otherwise that it is not the presence of approximately 24% in the total blend of the brilliant, crisp, racy, floral Moselwein from our friend Johannes Selbach that really made this wine sing, as it sings again for us in 2004. We did more work this vintage holding the wine on its lees and circulating it [in the absence of SO2], to develop a creamier texture and perhaps greater suggestion of minerality [in virtue of the yeast autolysis]. The ’04 Pac Rim definitely seems to manifest a more structured, earthier, sturdier aspect relative to previous vintages – almost more suggestive of Austrian riesling than examples from other parts of Teutonia. Riesling enlivens, vivifies and brightens our world. Still the perfect accompaniment to Asian cuisine, fusion cuisine, Angst or Weltmudigkeit.
