Well, the 5 .5 hour drive to Mammoth didn't start off as well as I would have hoped; I got a 6 inch crack on my windshield on Hwy 395 between Adelanto and Ridgecrest from a passing Toyota!

Our first stop in the Eastern Sierras was in Lone Pine for bait and fishing supplies

here's my faithful Acura CL outside of Lone Pine in the area called "The Sand Trap"

"The Sand Trap" was part of the "beach" area of the Lone Pine Creek that fed into the Los Angeles Aqueduct. Unfortunately, we didn't catch anything here.
.

Here's the fenced off portion of the LA Aqueduct

We also tried fishing at this spillway area in Big Pine but no luck either.

Rick fishing at the Spillway

Outside of Bishop, we saw some of the Fall foliage

We checked into our condo for the weekend in Mammoth

After unloading our luggage and catching some MLB action on TV, we head for Lake Mary

Kevin and Rick scope out some fishing spots

They actually did pretty good with their Powerbait and garlic dip

After fishing, we had dinner at a new place in Mammoth

I had the chicken and rib combo there.

On Saturday morning, we tried Lake Mary again but it was crowded and no one was getting any bites so we moved on to Lake George.

Here's a towering formation called Crystal Crag, you couldn't help but to stare at it as it dominated the surrounding landscape around Lake George and Lake Mary.

The three of us took this long hike thru the snow with the drifts as deep a foot or more.

Here's Kevin and Rick fishing next to the giant boulder

a line of fly fisherman practice their skills as Kevin looks on.

After a late lunch at Carl's Jr in Mammoth (and watching the USC vs ND football game), we head out to Lee Vining to try out one of my favorite fishing spots.

I did okay, I "limited" in about an hour or less before darkness.

We stopped by the Whoa Nellie Deli at the Mobil gas station in Lee Vining for some gourmet food

Kevin got the Calmari sandwich

Rick got the Lobster Taquetos

I got the Port Carnitas Tacos with the Tomatilla Salsa and beans

packing day at 8am

We grabbed breakfast at a favorite local hangout

We all had great meals for breakfast!

Yum!

On the way back we stopped at Schats Bakery in Bishop to pick up sometime for home.

I couldn't resist shooting some photos inside Schat's and got yelled at by one of the workers!

on the way back, Rick wanted to pick up his favorite peppers especially after reading that the company was going out of business (produced locally in Lone Pine area).

Rick and Kevin ran into the local Lone Pine market and picked up several jars of the peppers ...
So we headed back to Los Angeles loaded with Shepherd bread, Peppers, and Trout; it was a short but great weekend full of fishing, fellowship and food!
