Fishing with da folks

Reflective Movie

During my "down time" here in Mississippi, I watched "Sideways" on DVD. I've come to really appreciate how really good the movie is especially the characters Miles and his best friend Jack, and the relationship between Miles and Maya. Virginia Madsen is especially hauntingly beautiful in her role as the waitress/grad student/love interest of Miles. Ironically, the next day as I was thinking about what to write on my blog; the very same movie and memorable scene between Miles and Maya was on cable TV ("why are you into Pinot?" "Why are you into wine?"). After three season of "Greys Anatomy", I think I like Sandra Oh better as a movie actress.

Oh, if you're wondering ... two golfing scenes in " Sideways" weren't very satisfying. I was more interested in the
oenophiles in the movie. The humanity of the guy characters are especially evident in depth of their weakness.

Christmas Day in Ms

My nephew Ford racked up on Christmas this morning! He wanted a dump truck and ended up with a whole "construction yard" worth of vehicles!

He also got these cool boots for the country from Grandma!

Most of the family went out to the farm to go fishing

DB was out looking for Bambi, here are some fresh deer tracks

Man, the farm next door looked nice and green!

Here's DB looking for deer. Saw a couple does about 300 yards away.

Christmas Carolers !!

"Ding dong" went the door bell at 9am as I was busy packing for my trip back to Mississippi ... I thought to myself, "oh no, some drunken folks stopped at the wrong house!" I was so surprised to see all these familar smiling faces on my doorsteps (it only shows how cynical I've become)!

These lovely folks sang such wonderful Christmas songs to me and my roomie!

What a sweet sound they made (as I wonder what my neighbors thought) ...

How blessed I felt tonight in the middle of all my holiday stressing that I should be so blessed to be in such a loving community!

Thank you, Jesus for the Love that you inspire!

Communion

Benediction
Current Series: FLESH: 8 Implications of Christmas
Message: Body
Synopsis: Christmas is about the Incarnation (God become flesh). God in the form of a human person means God had a body. In the NT, the church is called "the body of Christ." This community in the Spirit bound by a common faith exists as the present form of Jesus in the world. Because Christ is in the world, the implication for Christians is that we follow Christ into the world as his body. We meet Christ who is already there among the poor and hungry. Christ does not exist only in the church, but in the world. The implication is that the church doesn't just bring Christ to a hurting world so it can know Jesus, but the church also needs the hurting world to meet and know Christ. This is the incarnational solidarity the church has with the world. To be the incarnational presence of Christ in the world is the practical application for Epic as a community of justice and healing.
