Synopsis: We'll be looking at the Exodus event in chapters 13 and 14. In a chronological sense, a prequel to Erin's last two messages. In a thematic sense, a follow up from where we left off last week. What do we do when we realize we are paralyzed about the future? After we have reoriented our faith in a good God, what's next? In this story, the Lord knows what is up, though the people are not able to see the big picture. They think they are wandering aimlessly when the Lord has taken them on a route that is good for them. God can see what we can't.
Still, many times we want to know the end of the story before we will begin the journey. We demand assurance of safe and happy passage before we will take the first step. But that's not the way life works. We can't see into the future, we can only trust God. So in the midst of our uncertainty, God says, "start walking." Faith in a good God looks like taking the first step forward.
