SERIES: JESUS FOR THE RIGHT BRAIN: Transformation Through Imagination
TEXT: Scene 5 [Luke 12:22-34]
SYNOPSIS: Transformation happens through genuine encounter with Jesus. In this series we are practicing the Ignatian style of meditation by placing ourselves in scenes from the gospels and encouraging dialogue between us and Jesus, with the hope of tasting and seeing that the Lord is good. In Scene 5 , the final of our series, we meditate on the issue of worry. What does Jesus say about how to think about worry? What to do about it? How does it sound that Jesus tells us, "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom"?

DB's awesome Birthday Week

Birthday week started off with a celebration of all the January folks at the Fullerton House Church on Friday (1/22)

Celebrated my actual birthday having dinner with my friend James at the California Fish Grill in Yorba Linda.

The Salmon was yummy but the dessert that Diane made for afterward was even better!
(sorry, no dessert photos ... it was consumed was too fast!) ; D

My friend Winston treated me for lunch at the Tofu House on Wednesday; I totally missed eating there even though I only live a couple blocks away!

After lunch headed out to Southbay to watch Avatar at The Bridge in El Segundo with Rick & Steve D. It was a pretty good show!

Rick suggested an authentic Lebanese restaurant in Manhattan Beach called Open Sesame; the Chicken Tawook (charbroiled chicken breast) was really good!

Met a group of friends for dinner at TGI Friday before seeing a community theater version of "The Wizard of Oz" on Friday (1/29).

Check out my friend's daughter who came dressed up as "Dorothy", it was an enjoyable evening!

Saturday night some friend hosted a wonderful birthday party for me at church; loved the golf themed cake (red velvet)!

had some help blowing out my two candles ...

group birthday photo with a few of my friends

on Sunday, I got another birthday surprise when Pastor Kev presented me with an awesome Trout Calendar during church service and took a cool photo of me with the congregation behind me. How cool is that.

Thanks to all my friends and family for celebrating this special milestone with me!

SERIES: JESUS FOR THE RIGHT BRAIN: Transformation Through Imagination
TEXT: Scene 4 [Mark 6: 30-44]
SYNOPSIS: Transformation happens through genuine encounter with Jesus. In this series we are practicing the Ignatian style of meditation by placing ourselves in scenes from the gospels and encouraging dialogue between us and Jesus, with the hope of tasting and seeing that the Lord is good. In Scene 4 of our series, we meditate on two thoughts: 1) Jesus is the Good Shepherd who leads us to green pastures and restores our souls, and 2) Jesus includes us in his work of feeding and nourishing others. Both are a kind of grace to receive. Do you need to be led by Jesus to green pastures and quiet waters? Is Jesus calling you to partner with him in a specific way to bless others with what you can offer?

Jesus for the Right Brain - scene 3

Whew! Back on the Soundboard after about a month and was I rusty! My apologize to Becky's worship team & My Parasol (Susan and Mark plus Ryan) for the snafu with sound and for sermon not getting recorded (more technical problems). Gotta go back to the drawing board on the pre-service checks.

Pastor Kevin on series "Jesus for the Right Brain"

SERIES: JESUS FOR THE RIGHT BRAIN: Transformation Through Imagination
TEXT: Scene 3 [Luke 13:10-17]
SYNOPSIS: Transformation happens through encounter genuine with Jesus. In this series we are practicing the Ignatian style of meditation by placing ourselves in scenes from the gospels and encouraging dialogue between us and Jesus, with the hope of tasting and seeing that the Lord is good. In Scene 3, a woman has been bent over for 18 years. Jesus heals her and she straightens up. The woman's infirmity was external and obvious; Have you ever been afflicted with something, external or internal, that has made you feel self-conscious, less-than, or shameful? Anything that has ever crippled you that prevented you from "standing-up straight"? Praise God that he is the lifter of our heads!
