Dinner at El Farolito

A group of us guys treated Gamera-San out for his turtle birthday (was that 135 or 1,350 years) to his favorite Eastside Mexican restaurant, El Farolito in Placentia (where Asian Tennis star Michael Chang used to live a few years ago). Anyways, the food was good as always! I had the Carne Asada combo.

After dinner, we came back to the Buena Park Boy's crib to play some Texas Hold'em ... unfortunately, once the HDTV was fired up, all of the attention turn toward the Winter Olympics (Speed Skating was on, Apollo Anton Ohno kicked some butt in the 500m!).

BSG "Downloaded" New Episode

Counting down to the season finale on March 10th (a special 90 minute episode) but before then we get to see the Cylon's POV in this Friday's episode titled "Downloaded". If you have been following the series you know that the Cylon don't really die; their conscienceness gets transferred to a new body. We see what happens to the Galactica's Cylon Sharon who was shot dead (ala "Jack Ruby" style) by crewman Cally.

Next week's March 3rd Episode is the beginning of the End (Part One of the two part season finale). Stay Tune!

"LOST" Rerun tonight.

Well, LOST Fan-atics since tonight is a re-run of the Pilot, you can :

1. Spend another 2 hrs rewatching the Original PILOT for clues (eventhough, you probably bought the Season 1 boxset like I did) to gain new insights about the crash (like the Dharma logo on the side of the plane or the vapor monster exploding the jet engine).

2. Finally watch the other great show on Wednesday at 9:00 - "Veronica Mars", or

3. Catch up on the Olympics, or

4. Actually have a life without TV for a change.

Me, I think I'm gonna watch my new "RENT" dvd tonight.

Last night's "24" 3pm-4pm

Honestly, I was getting tired of the storyline when "BAM!" evil terrorist henchman is stabbed dead by his EVEN MORE EVIL Billionaire Terrorist Boss! I'm hooked again by that darn Lynn McGill (played by Sean Astin aka "Samwise Gamgee") and that NO BACKBONE weasel of a President Charles Logan. It looks like anyone especially the bad guys can totally influence that spineless idiot!

Awwww, just when I was about to give up on Season 5 ... I got pulled back in! Good Job, scriptwriters!!

Last night's Grey's Anatomy Shocker!!

Spoiler for those still catching up to the current episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" ... in "invisible text" you know the drill ... highlight to reveal.

Mark, (the former best friend of Dr McDream) was caught in bed with Addison (Mrs Dr McDreamy) came to Seattle Grace Hospital and was already hitting on Meredith Grey! Derrick promptly punched him out! Shocker at the end ... Meredith's roomie finally tells her his feelings and they get it on!!!

New "24" tonight!

Uh oh! The terrorists got away again with the nerve gas and Jack is in trouble for doing the right thing (again) ... wow! what a wimpy President!! Even his First Lady is bossing him around! Tonight, Mister Hobbit-man (Sean Astin's Lynn McGill) is putting down his big hairy foot and calling Jack back to CTU (instead of following up on them leads).

Are we gonna see more of that mystery Russian Billionaire, Vladimir Bierko?

It feel like this "DAY" should be coming to an end by now (is it the 8th hour of this crazy day?).

Mosaic Church - "Chasing Daylight"

A friend invited me to check out Mosaic Church tonight, Pastor ErwinMcManus had recently released a new book and sermon series "Chasing Daylight". I had previously attended Mosaic's Origin Conference a couple years ago so I was somewhat familar with highly theatrical service that Mosaic Church (formerly, Church on Brady) presents.

Mosaic is a multi-site church. Tonight's service was held at the Mayan nightclub in downtown LA. Presentation was good, worship was great and Pastor Erwin delivered a great sermon on taking the Initiative. It sound like they have many wonderful programs set up, I'm not all that sure that they were community minded as it seemed to me that they were somewhat "consumer" orientated. It was a good experience. Thanks CJ for the invite!!

Lunch @ El Torito

I love my church family but ... we take way too long to decide where to go eat!! Move it people!! We went for Mexican today, El Torito in Fullerton. It was good!

Epic Church - Matt 7:13-14

Pastor Erin's sermon today was on the Gospel of Matthew 7:13-14 (Sermon on the Mount) about the narrow and wide gates. Good sermon illustrations using photos of the different gates of the walled city of Jerusalem; the wide gates that everyone would use and where all of the mainstream events of the city would be held in contrast to the narrow servant gates that are few and hidden. Pastor Erin makes the point that our modern day "Wide gates" are the things that we in our American culture seek (comfortable life, bigger house, i.e. the American Dream). How are we as Christian live our lives any different from any one else? What is the "Narrow Gate" that we should seek.

13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destructions, and many are those who enter by it". 14 "For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it."

Dinner with Karl and Rick

Well, once again I'm out eating well (3rd-4th time this week). Karl called and took me and my roomie out for dinner tonight for my belated birthday. We chosed Korean BBQ tonight (yup, our clothes smelled afterward).

It's always great hooking up with Karl. He told us some great news too. He got a promotion to management at his automotive company (which included a managerial vehicle). We got to ride in his new Honda Pilot! Dinner was great ... too much food. Those Korean places sure use a lot of little side dishes!

Thanks Karl for your great friendship and for treating me for my birthday!!
