TEXT: I Corinthians 11:17-34
SYNOPSIS: This message is an explanation of how we at Epic understand communion - a shared meal and invitation to grace - and why we celebrate the Lord's Supper each week. This passage teaches us that the church is a community, not a religious organization and that spirituality is primarily social, not religious. The Lord's Supper is meant to be a beautiful reflection of that reality. For this reason, communion resides at the very center of our common life as Epic. Through communion, the real presence of Christ is mediated to us, and we are all invited to the table because of what Jesus has done for us through his own life, death, and resurrection. Through the Lord's Supper, we acknowledge the grace we receive from Christ and the grace we extend to one another through our conversations, prayer, and shared life as a church.
