Saw the feature-length documentary about a group of Japanese Americans interned at the Manzanar "Relocation" facility outside of Lone Pine, CA during WII who risked their lives to defied the government by leaving the restriction of camp life to fish for Trout in the local waters in the Eastern Sierras.

"The Manzanar Fishing Club" in an exclusive Los Angles Engagement from March 30 - April 5th at the Laemmle Monica 4 in Santa Monica, CA.

One of my sharp-eyed friends saw the director Cory Shiozaki in the lobby and suggested that I also get in line for a photo op and an autograph. Cory was very personable. He, the co-productor and writer - Richard Imamura and one of the voice over narrators participated in a question and answer session immediately following the documentary. It was very interesting to learn that in the six year project, that they had over 70 hours of oral history from people associated with the events depicted in the film. Here's a link to the movie project if you want to learn more.

One of the other cool aspect of coming out to the Westside for the movie, was that my friends and I got to dine at Umami Burger and walk around the Third Street Promenade area before the movie.
