New Series: CAN YOU RELATE? A Look at Who God Is and How to Relate to Him
Message: God Relational

Synopsis: Simply put, there are two kinds of knowing: We can know about something (abstract, impersonal, propositional) and we can know something through experience (encounter, relational, through the senses); Torrance says that "the nature of the object to be known determines the method of knowing"; both kinds of knowing are valid and necessary in life, but because God is a personal Being, to know God is to interact with him through relationship. God is not a set of abstract principles, or rules, or morality; God is a person to respond to. Through the burning bush Moses encounters a God who hears, speaks, and acts for the good of people; Adam and Eve experience a God who communes and communicates with them in the Garden. We were created for relationship and partnership with a relational God, it is what makes us human.

Message:Room for one more/ Wings of Refuge

Ellen preached the Word to us this Sunday! Since the wings of God’s shelter extend far enough to include outsiders who seek refuge in them, we as believers are called to be the extensions of his wings in our families, churches and communities in order that all people may experience God’s gracious hospitality. Ruth demonstrates this for us and moves us towards the truth.

Message: Room for one more/ Desperately Seeking Joy.

Hospitality is other-centered, but it brings joy to our hearts. We must keep a kingdom mindset, oriented on people so that the world makes sense and we, ourselves, experience the joy and love of God. May this be encouragement and a reminder of what real joy is.
