Current Series: FLESH: 8 Implications of Christmas
Message: Body
Synopsis: Christmas is about the Incarnation (God become flesh). God in the form of a human person means God had a body. In the NT, the church is called "the body of Christ." This community in the Spirit bound by a common faith exists as the present form of Jesus in the world. Because Christ is in the world, the implication for Christians is that we follow Christ into the world as his body. We meet Christ who is already there among the poor and hungry. Christ does not exist only in the church, but in the world. The implication is that the church doesn't just bring Christ to a hurting world so it can know Jesus, but the church also needs the hurting world to meet and know Christ. This is the incarnational solidarity the church has with the world. To be the incarnational presence of Christ in the world is the practical application for Epic as a community of justice and healing.

Current Series: FLESH: 8 Implications of Christmas
Message: Generousity
Speaker: Erin
Synopsis: Be generous: Well, duh. It's Christmas. But /why/ be generous? Too often we fall into "paying God back" - he was good to you, now you owe him, but that fails to recognize the nature of a gift. At Christmas, God uses his resources to communicate love. Our generousity should flow from love, and a desire to bless people. We will look at the unrighteous steward and see some things Jesus says about our desire to bless ourselves first, and then celebrate how good He has been to us.

Benediction

Current Series: FLESH: 8 Implications of Christmas
Message: INVERSION
Speaker: Kevin
Synopsis: As we continue to look at the implications of Incarnation, we look this week at Mary's Song (Luke 1:46-55). If Jesus reveals God to us, we glean here a framework from which to understand what it is to come, that Jesus' entire ministry is a fleshing out of the prophetic vision of inversion, where the social order is turned upside down. As a poor, peasant girl, Mary is overwhelmed with joy, not only at the prospect of the Messiah being born through her, but also the birthing of a new social order from which God's deep regard for the hungry, the humble, and the servant is revealed. This is an inspiration for the different kind of community we want to become as Epic, a church that practices the discipline of justice, becoming practitioners of inversion.
